Apple is set to bring its advanced vapor chamber cooling system, currently featured in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, to the iPad Pro by 2027. The technology, designed to manage heat from high-performance chips during demanding tasks like gaming and AI processing, will mark the first application of such a thermal solution in a device as thin as the iPad Pro.

The system leverages liquid evaporation and condensation within a sealed metal chamber to dissipate heat efficiently—replacing the problematic titanium frame used in earlier iPhone models. This innovation has already resolved overheating issues in the iPhone 17 Pro, enabling sustained performance during intensive workloads.

With the iPad Pro evolving into a portable desktop alternative—powered by chips like the M5, which rivals the Mac Studio’s M1 Ultra—thermal management has become critical. Apple’s MOVE signals a commitment to maintaining performance without compromising form factor, even as tablets push computational boundaries.
